The Center for Cyber Strategy and Policy seeks to hire a Research Associate for Portfolio Management and Assessment for the Ohio Cyber Range Institute.
The principle workload assignment of this position will be to support the Ohio Cyber Range Institute. The Ohio Cyber Range Institute (OCRI), housed at the University of Cincinnati on behalf of the state of Ohio, provides administration of the Ohio Cyber Range (OCR) in advancement of the OCR’s mission as a cyber security education, workforce, and economic development platform. The OCR is a state-wide tool that supports programming for K-20 courses and events; full-spectrum training opportunities, including incident response teams; industry workforce and economic development; cyber security research; as well as government agency support among other programs. The position is housed in the Center for Cyber Strategy and Policy and integrates with its mission and planning. The position works within the OCRI governing structure and reports to the OCRI Executive Staff Director and the unit head.
The OCRI Research Associate for Portfolio Management and Assessment, acting under general supervision of the OCRI Executive Staff Director, will be responsible for creating and managing the OCRI portfolio and assessing the Ohio Cyber Range (OCR) programming used for education and workforce development.
In particular, the OCRI Research Associate for Portfolio Management and Assessment will have the following duties & responsibilities
OCRI Portfolio Management
Develop and manage a system of record that tracks the activities, lessons, exercises, and achievements performed in the Ohio Cyber Range by cyber learners in Ohio. The purpose of the Cyber portfolio is to document the “hands on experience” of learners in the OCR to demonstrate cyber security competence and levels of cyber experience to potential employers.
Select and integrate a model (e.g. digital badges) for measuring and recognizing the learner’s Cybersecurity competency levels.
Disseminate and support a system that maintains a learner’s OCR portfolio documenting their achievements and the competencies gained while using the OCR.
Provide automated instrumentation and or human assessment capability in order to provide actionable feedback to the training audience for continuous improvement. Develop and integrate assessment instruments to evaluate Cybersecurity teams’ strength and areas for improvement in their Cybersecurity competencies.

Support the Center for Cyber Strategy and Policy in the Department of Political Science
Bachelor's degree in a profession/field or equivalent level of knowledge.
Experience with Portfolio and/or assessment tools and processes
Familiarity with social science methods
Knowledge with NSA CAE in Cyber Ops & Cyber Defense Standards
Knowledge of Cybersecurity Standards including NIST
