Wells Fargo Compliance is the company's compliance independent risk management function, providing oversight to ensure that all front-line business group abide by applicable regulatory requirements, meet compliance responsibilities and manage compliance risks. The Front Line of Defense is responsible for identifying, managing, and controlling the risks arising from its activities. It is also responsible for self-assurance activities and for monitoring and reporting current and emerging risk exposures associated with its activities and operations Front Line of Defense (FLOD) Self-Assurance Activities (SAA) are performed by businesses to confirm that their risk-mitigating controls are operating as designed and expected, and that their controls are sufficiently managing and mitigating risk.
About the Role
The Business Risk & Controls Senior Associate will report to the Business Risk & Controls Associate Manager for Technology Control. Technology Control Self-Assurance team performs evidence based evaluations of processes, applications and infrastructure on a periodic basis using a risk based approach. Our focus is to ensure that Effective rated controls are operating effectively in mitigating their assigned risk and that applications and infrastructure are in compliance with required controls. The accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Performs or validates Self-Assurance Activities for all Effective controls aligned to Applications and Infrastructure liaising with Extended US Team members
Evaluating/Performs the adequacy of Minimum Application/Infrastructure
(as it relates to ITGC) High Risk Business Process Applications/ Infrastructures of Bank on scheduled timelines.
Reporting of findings to the application teams.
Works on process improvement, automation of control processes, quality assurance and quality control routines, and risk and control metrics and reporting.
Demonstrate capacity to pro-actively and independently analyze and solve problems and address risks.
Interviewing for open positions within the Technology Control Self Assurance Team.
Provide support, education and training to team members to build risk awareness within the team.
Provides guidance to the team on policy and processes in support of management
Provide subject matter expertise on regulatory expectations and industry best practice around risk and control frameworks
Maintains open communication with management. Communicates assessment progress and findings by providing information in status meetings, highlights unresolved issues, reviews, working papers and prepares final assessments reports.
Market Skills and Certifications
University degree (Bachelor's or equivalent)
Minimum 6 years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 8+ years of IT systems security, IT General Controls, IT Application Controls, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 4+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both.

Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor, (CISA) Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional, (CISSP) or other risk management discipline certification
Information Security – Risk and Compliance (Mandatory Required)
Experience communicating in both written and verbal formats with senior executive-level leaders
Other Desired Qualifications
6+ Years risk management experience with demonstrated team player skills and ability to mature risk management programs.
IT audit/audit consulting experience.
Advanced Enterprise Risk Management experience and perspective.
Experience successfully navigating and influencing global financial institutions on risk management topics.
Strong risk and control fundamentals, knowledge of frameworks and methodologies, common implementation challenges.
Experience in evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures and controls.
Experience in review and development of risk ratings.
Experience in assessing risk, writing issues, and developing appropriate corrective actions.
Demonstrated negotiation skills, especially with difficult topics when partnering with senior management. This includes the willingness and ability to question decisions, understand direction and escalate issues, where necessary.-Demonstrated experience with both strategic and tactical approaches to risk management.
Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and deliver results quickly.
