Pacific Science & Engineering (PSE) is seeking a highly qualified professional to join our full-time technical staff as a human factors engineer specializing in system engineering.
Successful candidate will serve as a human factors engineer on teams of professionals conducting system research, analysis, and design to address challenging problems of people using complex, computer-based and automated systems.
Candidates should be capable of working flexibly in small multi-disciplinary teams on several concurrent projects, with minimal supervision. Excellent verbal, written, and technical communication skills are necessary. Some travel is necessary. U.S. Citizenship is necessary for this position in order to comply with government contracts requiring successful completion of a security clearance for access to classified information.
Desirable education, knowledge, skills, and demonstrated experience include:
Advanced degree or equivalent work experience in human factors engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, or similar
System engineering processes
Operational concept development, requirements analysis, and architectural design of software-based, human-integrated systems
Writing systems and/or software engineering documents
Creating model-based systems engineering (MBSE) products
Working with users in operational environments
Interface design and prototyping
Systems Modeling Language (SysML), Unified Modeling Language (UML), and/or Service-Oriented Architecture Modeling Language (SOAML)State-of-the-art web development technologies (e.g., NodeJS, Angular 2+)
Department of the Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
ISO 9241-11:2018 and ISO 9241-210:2019
Human factors standards and methods MS Office and analysis software
Test and evaluation
Usability testing and analysis
Three or more years of applied industry experience highly valued
Responsibilities of the position are:
Collaborate on multidisciplinary teams performing human factors research, design, and development
Develop and analyze operational concepts, evaluate technical feasibility of completed graphical user interface (GUI) designs, and design front-end architectures to accompany completed GUI designs
Develop creative and evidence-based solutions to complex, applied problems
Assume responsibilities and contribute at all levels in project teams
