Data Labeler
Summary
The data labeler performs a variety of data annotation tasks for data collected from robotic sensors. Most data is in the form of images, where the labeler will describing the contents of the image, usually by selecting and categorizing pixels of interest. Other data to be annotated may include 3D point clouds or other sensor outputs. Data labelers may also review the labels created by others, document best practices, and provide feedback to engineering staff on the labeling process. This position requires significant attention to detail, ability to improve based on feedback, and proficient computer interaction skills.
Primary Responsibilities
- Label items of interest in an efficient and accurate manner
- Access assigned tasks via online systems
- Follow and meet quality assurance guidelines based on project requirements
- Contribute feedback to improve the overall effectiveness of our labeling tools and processes
- Ask questions and seek clarification when necessary
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of training and experience required
- Demonstrated perseverance and drive to complete repetitive tasks
- Proficient computer skills
- Good visual and spatial reasoning skills
- Strong communication skills
- Self-motivated, curious, and willing to accept and improve based on feedback
Requirements
The successful candidate will:
- Conduct work primarily as a remote worker with minimal on-site time.
- Work as a part-time employee with a typical work schedule of 15 hours/week and fixed term of 6 months with possibility of future extension.
- Successfully complete of a background check
- Be a US Person, due to possible work with export controlled materials
- Be a resident of a US location where CMU has existing business entity (Pittsburgh region preferred)
Desired Qualifications
- Strong visual and spatial reasoning skills such as may apply to graphic designers, photographers, video editors
- Enthusiasm of the development of autonomous technology
- Basic understanding of Jira or similar issue tracking tools
- Basic understanding of Confluence or other wiki documentation tools
- Residence in Pittsburgh region preferred for possible onsite interactions
