Specific responsibilities include the following:
Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with the Bank's risk appetite.
Perform targeted (deep dive) reviews, including detailed testing and critical analysis, to understand processes and controls, identify operational risk and assess risk mitigation.
Review and challenge first line of defense governance documents, policies, procedures and reporting to ensure management has identified and addressed operational risk.
Provide support and guidance in the development and implementation of key controls, key risk indicators and reporting.
Perform issue/observation analysis related to regulatory concerns, audit findings and self-identified issues.
Review significant operational risk events and associated post event reviews, as needed.
Perform quarterly control testing validation activities to ensure all key controls are identified, challenged and properly tested.
Perform quarterly risk assessment to assess the effectiveness of risk management activities and the control environment and assign a control rating.
Publish quarterly opinion memos to communicate effectiveness of risk management and control activities and report on deficiencies and related mitigation activities.
Develop and deliver periodic risk reports to senior and executive management.
Develop and implement applicable risk training, as needed.
Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree and 6+ years of risk management, auditing, compliance, legal/regulatory, finance or other directly related experience.
Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, problem resolution and analytical skills required.
Must have excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbally and written.
Ability to effectively build relationships, work on cross-departmental teams and engage with senior management.
Experience working with banking applications, processes, procedures and controls.
Working knowledge of risk management over credit underwriting, origination, servicing and/or portfolio management or third-party risk management experience is preferred.
