California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for two tenure track faculty positions in the Department of Computer Information Systems. Cal Poly Pomona is one of two polytechnic universities in the 23-campus California State University system and among 11 such institutions nationwide. Student Population.  California residents comprise the majority (96%) of applicants to undergraduate programs at Cal Poly Pomona – nearly half (49%) of new students were transfers in Fall 2020.  58% of Cal Poly Pomona students are first generation, 70% receive financial aid, and 44% qualify as Pell-eligible.  The university enrolls a diverse student body that identifies as 49% Latinx, 21% Asian, 15% White, 3% Black, 5% International 3% two or more races, 3% unknown and less than 1% Native Hawaiian or Native Pacific Islander and less than 1% Native American Indigenous. 39% of the student body were STEM majors with the top enrolled programs including psychology, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, biology and computer science.

College

The College of Business Administration at Cal Poly Pomona is a diverse community of students, teacher-scholars, and staff committed to active learning through the application of theory to practice. The College partners with its stakeholders to develop individuals with the knowledge and skills to be successful and to contribute in a dynamic global business environment.

The College of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB and has been recognized by the Princeton Review, which included us in its 2011 edition of "Best 300 Business Schools," and U.S. News and World Report that continually ranks us as one of the premier master's-level public universities in the West. 

The College of Business Administration provides eight subplans leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. It also offers several graduate programs - Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Information Security (MSIS), Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA), and Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA).

Department

The Computer Information Systems (CIS) department provides an option for the degree of Business Administration. The CIS Department also supports the MSIS program and serves in some other graduate programs, such as MSBA and MBA. 

The CIS department provides students with the education to become Information Technology leaders. Our cutting-edge, career-focused programs and learn-by-doing teaching will make our graduates recognized nationally for their outstanding Information Technology expertise, innovative problem-solving ability, and effective interpersonal and communication skills.

The CIS Department is nationally known for the advancement and depth of its undergraduate curriculum. We are an inclusive group of 10 faculty from diverse backgrounds that serve approximately 940 undergraduate majors and 36% of them are of URM. Faculty members share a strong commitment to collegiality, collaboration, dedicated teaching and innovative scholarship, active participation in the shared governance of the department, and robust intellectual engagement with each other and our students. The department has a strong learn-by-doing philosophy and maintains a very competitive and up-to-date curriculum. 

There are several student clubs that are associated with the CIS department - Forensics and Security Technology (FAST), Management Information Systems Student Association (MISSA), and Students with an Interest in the Future of Technology (SWIFT). Student clubs are very active in organizing large events, such as the Wireless Telecommunications Symposium, the Western Regional Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition, and the annual Information Technology Competition. Since 2005 Cal Poly Pomona has had a Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense Education. This designation is awarded by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. The Center for Information Assurance is the focal point for Information Assurance and Cyber Defense Activities at Cal Poly Pomona. 1. Ph.D. in Information Systems or closed related discipline from an accredited university. Terminal degree must be earned by the start of the appointment.
2. Academic (i.e., teaching or research) or industry experiences in at least one of the following areas.
   1. Network Security and Cybersecurity
   2. IT Infrastructure and Administration
   3. Information Systems Auditing
3. Demonstrated evidence of or commitment to research resulting in peer-reviewed journal publications. Candidates with doctorate conferred more than 5 years ago must have at least two peer reviewed journal articles within the past five years.
4. Demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence in higher education.
5. A Student Success Statement that demonstrates your commitment and record of contributions through applicant's teaching, scholarship, or service, by addressing at least two of the inclusive excellence criteria listed above.  (Limit to 2 pages)
